good plays

Andy has highlighted a couple of good sites here... all too often we have the wingers collapsing to the slot position in our own end, where it should be the center doing that job... the center must be diligent to get to the slot, and the wingers should protect the wall, covering the point, and making himself available for the defense as they can confidently ring the puck around the boards knowing the wingers will be there... by no means must the wingers stay on the boards, but they should endeavour to get there when they see that the puck has been recovered...

once we get...

fisher back in the lineup we'll be much better...

more general stuff

Here are some things we do well when we're winning:
- skating to open ice, this creates distribution options for the puck carrier
- wingers covering the wing in our own end; this precludes the opposition from sending it back to the point as easily, and allows our defencemen to ring the puck around the boards, knowing that our winger will be there (or can get there in a couple of strides)
- scoring goals

blog for wednesday morning hockey is live

Here it is. Our space for posting comments on our play, musings about how to improve, flagrant accusations of breech of conduct by either ourselves or by the gents we line up against each week.

Everyone has been sent an email inviting them to become contributors to the site. If after a couple of months we see that we're posting to the site with regularity, I'll upgrade this free service to the pay service that allows us to post images.

Have at it! Keep you sticks on the ice!
