the machine's surgery report

Well, I had my surgery Feb 18. I went in in the morning at about 9:30 waited around for 3.5 hours, they worked on me for about 2.5 to 3 hours then they booted me out a little over an hour after I woke up which was about 1 hour after the surgery. At the time I couldn't breath right, swallow right or talk above a whisper. Apparently the "freezing" they put in my shoulder also affected my oesophagus. It went back to normal by 7:30 that night (about an hour and a half after I left the hospital).

Aside from that, so far the surgery has seems to have gone well. It is way better than what they did 12 years ago. I've got three little holes (about 1/2" long each) and much less pain. Although my doctor says that it is the same surgery underneath so I still have to be very careful for about 6 weeks afterwards. I'll start some basic physio this Wednesday, however, I'm not allowed to move my arm out away from my body further than straight out in front of me until the six weeks are up.

I'm really looking forward to using my left arm properly again as by back keeps spasming out and knotting up on me on account of my holding my arm differently now.

As long as everything goes well with the rehabilitation I hope to be back in the lineup in September.

Hope to see you all then,

Richard
